Instagram has become a experimental ground for many news outlets in the business to try a new approach to producing news. In an article on Journalism.co.uk it speaks on how news veterans BBC have now taken advantage of the new Instagram stories feature which allows you to post videos and pictures that disappear after 24 hours. The part in this article which stood out the most was the amount of views that BBC was able to accumulate within a matter of 15 seconds. On a news post where American Muslim were reacting to what America means to them in the light of Trump being elected. This was one of their more popular stories on the app that within 15 seconds they had 100,000 views and their statics showed that their was a good retention through out the story.
With Instagram's popularity among the used social media platforms it has become a way for news sources like BBC to now gain views to their website with the new update where you are able to use hyperlinks in your Instagram stories now allows them to direct viewers to their personal website thus gaining them more viewers than with just their website alone. With the younger audience not paying attention to their news sources, Instagram has become a good bait to reel in the catch and gain viewers. This does not come easy as to gain the younger generation's attention the footage and content must have appealing visuals, gripping captions and be stories of interest to them.
