No matter what your career or your space is when you feel like you are the person that people turned to where the labor versus the leader comes into play remember that as a leader you are still a laborer. Leadership is akin to servanthood. “It has been a trial of wanting to be on the side of making good content so that I can continue to hire above the line and below the line people that look like me “ Okema T. Moore said when talking about her journey to where she is now.
In the journey to leadership you have to learn to be a servant and how to be one without needing a cookie or accolades, without needing anyone to tell you that you're a good servant. Because when you are the people that serve with and for you will see that if you as the leader that will come work in their favor, they will do anything you need, they will be willing to do it. so, if in leadership be mindful to those that you lead, they are not there for you are there for them and then they will be there for you.
They also highlighted how Once you are in the place that you're supposed to be all the doors start to open. leadership is about finding yourself finding who you are and where you belong and once you do that Good things can happen, but it is until you do that you have to get out of your own way. “It okay to not be okay while you’re figuring it out” Ebonie Jackson said while describing her journey into finding herself and her place.
The most important thing that you must do is have the strength to walk through the door because if you don't do that the rest of the journey will not take place. You have to be strong because it's not comfortable doing that. It’s after you take that step that you realize how good you are, how alike you are to the other people that are on top. You must be aware that people are giving you opportunities, people who see something in you that you may not see in yourself You should believe them. Worst thing that could happen is that you will fail but it's no big deal. But it's after those failures that you will find the path that is best for you.
“Don’t please the people around you it should be about what are your passions an what do you want and don't do anything that is not who you are.” Dr. Donna Chirico said as she gives her insight into how she found her passion along her journey.
The glass ceiling is seeing what you want already to want to be but not being able to get to it .
Sometimes there are adversities that are barriers by design; being a woman in any field just to have a seat at the table you don't have to be loud in the room, but your presence is enough it will be felt. “You come from a great line of people who had to fight who had to stand up or literally their lives so that women can have this opportunity to be educated in institutions” Tammie Williams said when addressing how she managed to get to this point in her life. There are no excuses why we can’t shatter the glass ceiling .
"The glass ceiling is so deceptive"Patricia Obamije said because you can see the stuff that you want you can see other people being successful and makes you wonder why you aren't having the same results, given that you put in the work, But the trick is to work smarter not harder. Sometimes the other people on the other end up of the glass ceiling has a one up and in order to get to the point that they are you must match there one up. the glass ceiling exists but if you want to break it or shatter it there's things that you have to do whether it is individually or systematically.
Sometimes the way to shatter the glass ceiling is to begin to put stock into things that were created for you. Deposit into the systems that were created for you. So when you pour into the system that is made for you, when the others see that you are doing what you need to do in your system the other systems well start to take notice. Don't let them to deny you showed them why you need to be there. There are people that stop you from breaking the glass ceiling the reality is we now occupy fields that were once dominated by men we make an assumption that the people that's trying to stop us are men but very often the people that are trying to undermine you are women Rather than us trying to work through the system, we must help change the system that stops each other from making it through those same systems.
